Learner through to mastery

From learning the prayer
to perfecting it.

SalahMotion is not a prayer-times app. It walks with you from your very first prayer to your most perfected one — naming each position as you reach it, keeping the count on your wrist, and showing you, prayer by prayer, how your salah settles. Whoever you are on that road, it is your companion.

The journey

Your companion at every step

Learning the words and the positions. Praying them with your hands free. Carrying the Qurʾān with you. Then, quietly, perfecting it.

The Learn to Pray screen: Full guidance, with every position named as you reach it, then the words to say.

1 · Learn

Every position, named

Full guidance names each position as you reach it, then the words to say — a Murshid in Arabic, a Muʿallim in English. As you grow, the guidance steps back.

2 · Pray

Hands free, on your wrist

Your Apple Watch feels each posture — standing, rukūʿ, sujūd, julūs — and keeps the count of the rakʿahs, so nothing is in your hands but the prayer.

3 · Memorise

The Qurʾān, with you

Read along, listen, and memorise — so that what you recite in prayer grows, sūrah by sūrah, from the Qurʾān itself.

The Analytics screen: how even the bowing, prostration and sitting of each prayer were, day by day.

4 · Perfect

See your prayer settle

Analytics holds your bowing, prostration and sitting up to the Sunnah of evenness, and shows you — never grades you — how close the three sat, day by day.

“His bowing, his prostration, and his sitting between the two prostrations were close to one another in length.” Bukhārī 792 & Muslim 471 · from al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib

Our design

Drawn from the motion of the heavens

Everything SalahMotion shows you sits beneath a sky — and that sky is real. Its colours are not a designer’s picks. They are drawn from published measurements of the clear sky at each height of the sun, so Fajr’s first light, the high blue of Ẓuhr, the gold of ʿAṣr and the sunset of Maghrib are the sky as it truly is, before the night settles into the deep violet of ʿIshāʾ.

The Sun crosses it with its glare and its halo. The Moon is the real Moon, from NASA’s own imagery, in its true phase that night. When the weather turns, the clouds overhead are drawn from the forecast where you stand.

And as the day turns, so does the year. The Hijri month and the Moon’s phase sit on the home screen; the white days of Ayyām al-Bīḍ, Jumuʿah, the last ten nights, the days of Ḥajj and ʿArafah, the Eids, Isrāʾ and Miʿrāj — the lunar calendar runs through every surface of the app. All of it as Allah Most High designed and created it: the heavens and the earth in their stunning motion, five times a day.

The signs of the day

Folded into the devices you carry

The prayers themselves are set by the sky: Fajr at first light, Ẓuhr as the sun leaves its height, ʿAṣr by the shadow, Maghrib at sunset, ʿIshāʾ when the twilight is gone. SalahMotion folds each of these signs into the places your devices already live, so you can turn to worship as they happen.

Sunrise and sunset, in the Dynamic Island

As the sun nears the horizon, a Live Activity counts it down in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen — and at sunset, the Moon takes its place — with a line to Qāf 50:39: glorify your Lord with praise before the rising of the sun and before its setting.

The five prayers, on your wrist

Complications on your watch face carry the day’s prayer rail, the next prayer and its countdown, sunrise and sunset, and the sun’s own path across the sky.

The Moon and the month

The Hijri date and the Moon’s phase on your home screen and in a widget; the white days to fast, the sacred months, the last ten nights, the days of Ḥajj — each marked as it arrives.

Prayer times and Qibla, from where you stand

Accurate local prayer times and a Qibla compass, worked out from your location, on your device.

Your own motion

One part of the same order

The Sun and the Moon move as they were set to move. So, in prayer, do you: standing, bowing, prostrating, sitting. On your wrist, the Apple Watch feels each of those postures and keeps the count of the rakʿahs — your own motion, recorded as faithfully as the sky above you.

Then Analytics holds it up to the Sunnah: were the bowing, the prostration and the sitting close to one another in length? Day by day you watch your prayer settle into evenness — one small motion in alignment with the celestial and the worldly creation, a single part of the whole cosmic order. That is the motion in SalahMotion.

And the rest, quietly

In your language

English, Arabic, Turkish, Indonesian, Malay and Urdu — with guidance for both Sunni and Shia practice.

Across your devices

Pray with just your Apple Watch, or with your iPhone or iPad following along. Your settings stay in step through your own iCloud.

A calm voice

Clear visuals and a gentle voice carry you through the words and actions, in your chosen language and recitation.

Private by design

No account, no ads, no trackers. A helper, never a judge: SalahMotion follows your prayer — it doesn’t grade it.

Your prayer is yours

SalahMotion has no sign-in and builds no profile of you. The sensing that guides you happens on your device; your preferences sync through your own private iCloud, which we can’t read. Anything that would ever reach us — a crash report, or anonymised motion to improve the guidance — is off by default and only ever sent if you turn it on.
